I just read the latest issue of las vegas weekly. Then I watched a set of videos about vegas clubbing. Then read about some 5-star restaurants there.
There's the itch again.
Jon asked me why i don't try someplace else instead of going to the same place again and again.
That's a valid point.
So next time, I'll check out a different club and a different restaurant. lol. Nah, I do agree. I just have too much fun when I go, and each time I go, it is different.
Time to start planning again I guess.
I do want to check out Seattle tho. I'd better start using my vacation too, because if I don't use it by Dec, it's gone.
My perspective is a blog better make you laugh or make you think. I'm trying to keep it real while keeping it funny. Life isn't always humorous, but one's perspective on it can and should always be. Heavy on the funny, heavy on the sarcasm.

This will be a blog of many flavors, much like a ice cream sundae, or a garbage disposal.
Last weekend was San Jose obon. It seems like each year, it seems smaller (only seems..doesn't actually get), and that it ends faster. I run into fewer people i know every year too. I had a good time though..ate some stuff I shouldn't have...this damn diet left me only so I could eat corn and rice...wtf is that shit. So I said fuck it and ate a bunch of stuff I shouldn't..including an imagawa yaki. This wasn't a good idea because after a month and a half of having no sugar, it went straight to my head, and I got kinda hyper. Also, my stomach wasn't too happy with it.
There are however, some rants and raves to go with this weekend.
-There is nothing better than imagawa yaki. Seriously. It's the one thing that I will eat and actually enjoy the red bean inside. I'm not a fan of red bean by any means. You have to eat it fresh when it's nice and warm. Omg. fucking awesome. I wish someone would make a giant one so that I could lie down on it, eat until I was ready to burst, and then fall asleep on the remainder of it.
-WTF is up with people who have see me, and then not say hi. Dude, I KNOW YOU SAW ME. I SAW YOUR EYES SEE MY FACE. So don't act like you're too cool for school. I'm not above saying hi first, but some of these folks who are older than me, who have known me for a while, it's like their too high and mighty to say hi to me. These are people who I used to CHILL with (Yeah I tagged along with my older brother for a while...apologies to him and his friends...but still). Whatevers. That shit pisses me off. I'm a grown ass man now, and being in a workplace with software engineers, I've learned the value of a smile and just taking the time to say "hello". So when I go into situation where people don't say wsup...man...punches all around. I can understand if kids and teenagers and shit are too shy to wsup, but YO. GROWN ASS PEOPLE..AIN'T THAT DAMN HARD TO JUST SAY WSUP. Just say wsup and then go back to your real friends, I don't give a shit, but just SAY IT.
-And now for a complete turn around and pure showing that my "hypocrisy knows no bounds" (credit to doc holliday), here's another rant. You know, I can't stand it when someone comes up to you, says wsup, stands there waiting, and then says nothing. Or says bullshit. And when I say bullshit, I mean it's obvious that they don't care what you do or say. Follow me here. HEre are the five bullshit statements. I'm sure I've blogged about this before:
1) "What have you been up to"
2) "Are you working? Where do you work at"
2b) "What do you do there?"
2c) "Oh cool! How do you like that?"
3) "Where are you going?" or "How long have you been here?" or "You come here a lot?"
They will then ask for your cell phone number, email, if you're on facebook, myspace, friendster. but will have no intention of contacting you laters. And that is what is called, friends, a WASTE OF TIME. Case in point, this obon I ran into someone who I knew a little less than a acquaintance. He says wsup. I say yo. Then he decided to mix it up a bit. He asked ONE question, then stood there silent. I had nothing to say to him because I BARELY KNEW HIM. So then he just says, okay well guess I'll catch you later. I said coo, laters, but what i should have said was HAVE A NICE LIFE because we all know that I will never see him again, and even if I do, we'll just do the same damn routine over again, and LA DE DA. Whee.
So basically..what the hell am I saying? Who knows.
-Why is it so hard to tell the age of girls these days, especially japanese girls. I see a girl and I think wow, she's cute! Then when she goes over to her friends, it becomes BLATANTLY APPARENT that she is clearly in the age range of 18 or lower. That's when I realize that I'm a dirty old man and cry in my beer. Beer that I would be drinking if I wasn't on this diet.
So that's that. Next week is the Mt. View obon, which I probably won't be going to because I'm going to one in berekely instead. It's a smaller church, and the food is way better. My mom went there when she was younger, so I'm going to support. The food is bomb....not that mt. view's french fries and corn dogs are hard to beat. Then of course, is the annual post mt. view obon house party.
What's next..okay...job. I've done some research and found that given what I'm interested in, I believe I'm much more suited to work in a different area of the company. I'm going to hopefully meet with some people who work in that particular department and then talk to my manager about making the change. The way I see it, I see a lot of pros for moving, and very little cons. Guess we'll see what happens.
I have also come to another solid life understanding. I vent. I rant. That's what I do sometimes. Maybe it'll be about my job, about my love life, about this or that or anything. I rant simply to VENT. Not to solve problems, not to come to a solution..sometimes you just need to vent to VENT. I think a lot of people dont seem to understand that. When I VENT, I'm NOT expecting a solution or a problem solving session. Don't criticize me for "wasting energy complaining". It's not "wasting energy" because it's serving a simple purpose..to vent. Otherwise if you just bottle it up, you'll have a breakdown, or you'll lash out at unrelated things or people.
I got a headache, on just the right side of my head.
All annoyances are reflections on myself. Who says you can't psychoanalyze yourself.
man i'm tired. i want to nap. to sleep, per chance to dream. lol

So I know that there are some good movies out right now. Okay, maybe good. But I've never been one to watch a lot of movies. For a few reasons.
1) Movies are damn expensive.
2) I usually only watch movies when I have time to kill or when I'm bored. I'd rather spend those hours doing something else, even if that something else is sitting around.
3) When I spend a lot of time in a dark room watching a movie, I usually leave with a headache. I'm not sure why, but I think it's related to the fact that it's bad for your eyes to watch TV in the dark because since the TV is the source of light.
4) DVDs come out so quickly after movies now that I can really just wait to see them. I don't mind watching a movie on a smaller screen.
So here's some movies coming out that are guaranteed suck, and the nonsensical reasons why.
-Transformers - I'm sure the movie isn't that bad, but all I had to hear was (SPOILER WARNING) that Optimus says "my bad", Jazz says "I'm Jazz, bitches), that Spike (aka "Sam") destroys Megatron, that the fight between Megatron and Optimus sucks balls, and that Megatron doesn't turn into a gun, and I was sold on this movie not being up to my expectations. Plus, I didn't hear anything about Devastator being included, and/or (especially) Blaster/Soundwave and their respective tapes. Jon gave his stamp of disapproval, as did Daco. Money saved, and childhood memories secure. If I get an urge to watch a Transformers movie, I'll just watch the one with "Citizen Kane" in it.
-Live Free or Die Hard - Okay, I know for a fact that this movie is at least okay. Several peoples that I have talked to have given it a thumbs up. However, due to the commercials and the title, I think I'll pass this one until a later date. But why??? Okay, here's why.
First off, the commercials. See the problem is, I've always liked the Die Hard series for their dark humor amidst some good action. Action that is unlikely, but at least somewhat possible. But it seemed that from the commercials, it just went completely goofy. Like he's having fun doing the stuff he's doing. Plus, there's the dorky ass apple guy. Since he's a main character, that means he doesn't die. That's another minus for the movie. Take Die Hard 1, and Die Hard 3 (we won't discuss die hard 2 because that one was a piece of dinosaur shit dunked in monkey piss). Those two movies were both seriously hardcore (running on glass with bare feat; pulling out pieces of broken glass from his foot....shooting the bad guys in a small elevator). And in both these movies, he forms this kind of camaraderie with two equally bad ass guys (The dad from Family Matters, and Zeus (one bad ass mother fucker)). In three, it looks like goof ball, with lines like "I'm gonna go kill this guy and get my daughter. Or go get my daughter and kill this guy. Or kill all of 'em!" So you're gonna kill your daughter and the guy? Anyways, then there's the title. "Live Free or Die Hard". Ugh. Just go with Die Hard 4. Or Die Harder. Or Die Hardest.
Anyways, that one will be a rental.
Here's some other ones that I'm sure are good, but I will never watch them/not watch them for a long time.
-Garden State.
-Jerry Mcguire
-Knocked Up
And while I'm at it, I'll mention Rosemary's Baby. I mentioned this on my erased blog (Ignorance is Bliss), but I'll mention it again. This movie is a fucking joke. Yeah yeah, i know a lot of you will say "oh it's a classic!" "how dare you!". Well, my opinion is that this movie is lame cheesy garbage. Psycho is a classic. Nosferatu was a classic. IT was a classic. Poltergeist is a classic. Rosemary's Baby made me more pissed off for wasting my damn time than anything else. You wanna see a scary movie about a possessed kid? Go watch The Omen. Rosemary's Baby is not scary at all. At all. Teletubbies are more scary than Rosemary's Baby. Actually, teletubbies are more scary than a lot of things.
I did, however, watch 1408, because the entire thing was posted online in pretty good format. I was gonna go watch it in the theaters, but the people I was going to see it with saw it without me/don't like horror movies. Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised by it. John Cusack did a good job with this role. The short story was pretty damn good, but it's a kind of scary that you can't replicate on film. Stephen King has a way of using words that creates a kind of fear that works best when you think about it. He conjures up this image of horror that can only exist in your imagination...this is the sign of how great of an author he is. When I was reading Salem's Lot, I had to put the book in the kitchen because it seriously had me scared shitless. There are couple other stories which had me scared down to my fucking bones (i.e. End of the Whole Mess). Anyways, I'm digressing. The point is, Stephen King's stories don't always translate well to the screen (with the HUGE exception of Shawshank Redemption). 1408 was definitely different from the story, but the changes they made were well suited for the final product. I thought it was going to be a corny ending, but they left it realistic and abrupt. I think any good horror movie does the same thing...leaving the viewer no resolution..just a grim acceptance.

I'm not good at any particular thing, but very average at various things. I have no innate talents. Nothing comes easy.
I can't dance well, can't hold a note.
I'm out of shape, overweight, got less style than your average nerd.
Can't make small talk, stick my foot in my mouth on a regular basis, and put myself into awkward situations.
I'm about as single as you can get, and am the poster child for "how to be a platonic friend".
seems like I'm complaining huh? what a hand I was dealt, right? Would I change it if I could?
surprisingly....
No.
If things came easy, what would I have to strive for? What would I have to appreciate? And for that matter, would I have ever learned how to appreciate? I used to think "why me", but I'm actually very lucky. I have much to work on, much to strive for, much to accomplish. Make myself better. That's all I can do. That all I will do.
Every shortcoming is a opportunity to LEARN...something that makes life magical. It's the learning about yourself and the world around you that makes life worth living. If everything came easy, you would never learn. And that, is far worse than any shortcoming I can think of.
And even if everything falls apart and I fail, as long as I have a funny story at the end of the day, then it's all worth it.

I am currently on this diet which requires me to eat no sugar (no substitutes or natural sugar either) and no gluten. That means no wheat or bread of any kind. I can't drink anything except for water. There is one saving grace, which is that I can still eat rice. So my diet everyday is pretty primitive: meat, veggies, rice. I can eat some cheese too. But I didn't realize how many things have sugar in them. So many things do, it's crazy. I seriously feel sad for anyone who is allergic to gluten...when you can't eat gluten your world is forced to become meticulous...you have to read every label of everything you eat. Your meals become nothing but not-as-good-tasting substitutes. I mean do you think flourless bread tastes good? BTW, this diet was prescribed to me by a doctor..i'm not crazy enough to try this on my own (BTW, this diet isn't to help me lose weight..I'm not THAT fat). The worst part of this diet by far is the simple fact that I can't eat fruit. Fruit is, by far, the thing that gets me through the day. It's good for you, and it tastes good. It's like nature's candy. BAH.
A while ago I tried a similar diet by my own decision - the no-carb diet. What a piece of shit. Okay, so yeah, you may lose a good amount of weight, but at what cost? Due to low blood sugar, you get headaches, you're cranky all the time, and you don't have much energy. That was a bust. I mean diets in themselves are pretty worthless unless you eat like a pig all the time. You just have to eat in moderation, and exercise. Period.
Last Sat went to Voodoo...got some good dancing in. Until the reggae came on. Seriously. Why. Why DJs around the world? Why do you play reggae and dancehall? Don't me wrong. Reggae/dancehall is good for sitting on a beach drinking a corona. Reggae is good for sleeping, chilling, taking a dump. But dancing? NO. It kills it. Next time a reggae or dancehall song comes up, take a look around. You will see no good dancing. You will see a mass of bodies trying to find the rhythm in a type of music that was made for smoking a blunt to. And then you will see me, pissed off and wondering why I paid 10 bucks to listen to this bullshit.
Why is it that when you meet a cute girl, she always has a bf. That's reality yo. You just gotta lower your standards. lolz.
To all my friends who are stuck on people who are less than satisfactory and who are not doing you all any good, and I say this with nothing but love for yah and with the realization that it don't matter what I say because you're gonna do what you're gonna do (because you can't deny your emotions and you're WEAK. lol i kid, i kid)....and also, let me indulge in some soap-box speaking...but nevertheless: Let it go, and move on. Otherwise you're going to be stuck in that hamster wheel for so many years that by the time you get off, you'll wonder why you wasted so much life. Love/relationships needs time to mature. It needs time to grow. If it starts off fucked up, or if gets fucked up shortly after it starts, then it's gonna be that way forever. Yes, forever. Like till the end of time. Because there's no foundation. Yes, i know you're in love. I know you worship the ground that they walk on. You'd throw yourself on a puddle to make sure that they wouldn't dirty their shoes. You'll drive to pick them up if they need a ride to SD even though they live in Sacramento. You'd chew their food for them, while washing their clothes, doing their taxes, and baking them a pie. But that'st the problem. You're trying to get back to how it was in the first place. And that's never gonna happen. You may think it's possible..i mean you've done it before, right? Or maybe you've seen other relationships work out after a fuck up? But again. No. Not gonna happen. The person is what they are, and at this age especially, unless they had a HUGE life-changing-omg-what-have-i-been-doing epiphany, then they have shown you what they are possible of, and that, will stay. I'm not saying that no one can change, but bad habits die hard, and the behaviors of your lesser halfs (yes all of you) are definitely BAD. Again, it's not impossible..hell, NOTHING is impossible. But I prefer to put faith in good odds, not shitty ones.
I'm writing this paragraph with nothing but humor on my mind, but do realize that there is a grain of truth and seriousness in this. Bottom line is, you're all my friends, and I hate seeing someone treat you less than how you should be treated. Do I not like the person that you're seeing? No, I don't. "How rude! You don't even know them as well as I do!". That may be true, but I do know one thing: they don't see anything wrong with hurting people who are close to them. They dont see anything wrong with taking advantage of someone who has strong emotions for them. They don't see anything wrong with knowing exactly what to say or do to pierce the vulnerable places of your feelings/emotions/heart. And that is enough for me to dislike them, at the very very very least.
I believe that the gods on Mount Olympus did not eat ambrosia. No, they ate jello. SERIOUSLY. Jello is the greatest food ever made by man, woman, or beast. DOES ANYONE TURN DOWN JELLO? I think NOT. And, holy crap, if any dares to put COOL WHIP on top???? There will be a stampede of people in ever visible direction. Jon noted to me that gelatin is made from hooves, and other shit. I DON'T CARE. If so, then props to the guy/girl who made hooves (and shit) taste SO DAMN GOOD.
lunch time over. more blog later.

So I went to SD. SD was okay. Saw some peoples, visited some old hangouts, got to get some carne asada fries (delicious only because I was drunk). Getting drunk in PB was awesome. I haven't been drunk in a really long time, and it was also fun getting my dance on. I didn't do much popping...it was more stupid fun dancing. I REALLY missed doing that. It was awesome. I just hope next time that I have more time while I'm down there. I think that next time I head down to SD, I'm going to fly, and I'm also going to maybe take a couple days off so I can relax.
I did realize tho that SD is getting farther and farther away. I mean there are a few people who I can still relate to and talk with, but with a lot of people, there's just been too much distance between me and them. It's really nothing bad. It's more like I've grown and they've grown, and we haven't kept in touch, so they remember me as I used to be, not how i am now. The bad thing about that is when I'm misunderstood I usually get really frustrated, which is one of my biggest pet peeves, so I just kinda clam up. Oh well.

This past week was pretty grueling in terms of work. Lots to do. Tons of work and assignments and meetings.
The weekend was full of disappointments. That's all that needs to be said.
It's not enough that I'm okay with being alone most of the time. I need to be able to get out and enjoy myself on my own too. I.e. hobbies and such.

well, i'm off to a last minute weekend trip to San Diego. i haven't been down there in a hella long time. can't wait to see the old stomping grounds and the few people I still keep in touch with. I apologize in advance if I don't get to see everyone. This trip, while last minute, is kinda funky cuz we're driving. But we're not getting in until about 4AM saturday morning. Which means we're going to spend a little over a day in SD. A waste? Maybe. Pointless? No way.
Daco said that anytime I want Roberto's during our time down there, it's on him. Good thing I don't plan on eating there. shit is hella bad for you. Okay maybe once. Just for old time's sake.
It's gonna be both super nice and a mental trip going back down south. I'm actually really excited. I'll use up more vacation time later on this year and go down for a longer period of time.
Everyday do something that you enjoy, even if only for a minute.
