feeling like shit. vegas always fucks me up. i must be getting old.
My perspective is a blog better make you laugh or make you think. I'm trying to keep it real while keeping it funny. Life isn't always humorous, but one's perspective on it can and should always be. Heavy on the funny, heavy on the sarcasm.

Stress.
I keep telling myself to finish my blog about vegas, but i always lose the urge to while i'm writing it. Or rather it's just that I have too much fucking work to do and stress is at an all time high.
I cannot believe the amount of work I've been having to do since late November. It's fucking ridiculous. I've been working weekends, major overtime, etc. Working late into the night or after dinner is nothing irregular at this point.
Which wouldn't be so bad if not for the fact that I'm purchasing a place and finally moving out of my parent's house. The normal humorous ranting part of it will be back shortly, but for now I'm a bit too stressed to be funny. Besides absolutely destroying my bank account, there is a lot of stress caused by this short sale finally going through. The HOA documents are not only long, but also confusing. I wish there was a sheet that just said what I'm responsible for and that's it. Furthermore, the lady who answers the phone at the company that manages the property is a bitch. Which leads me to my next theme...
It seems that in these past three months, every single person that I've to deal with, from coworkers to doctor's office receptionists to people that are involved with me getting this house, are fucking idiots. Seriously. They don't return my calls, they're unprofessional, and they make my life more stressful by asking for unnecessary shit or just not being able to answer my questions. I'm almost amazed at the sheer stupidity that everyone around me is showing. So either I've gotten way smarter and more efficient, which I KNOW isn't true - which leaves only one logic answer: These fuckers just suck at life.
Once I'm moved into my house and everything is ready for me to just start living my life again, I think I'll be back to normal. But until then, life is sucking major ass. It doesn't seem like there's such a thing as a free day or a weekend. This ain't no wanna be emo post either. Life is seriously sucking fucking ass. I can't wait until this weekend so i can self-medicate myself with alcohol to the point where I'm not thinking about work, house, life, anything, etc.

Why don't you update/Getting married like it's 1999/Being a bay area team sports man is bittersweet
I apologize for the update frequency. I haven't found a lot of time or rather substance in/on which to write. I hate to say it, but the urge to write seems to go down when something fun isn't happening or when there's little to no drama going on. That's not to say that I won't update unless something emo is going on; rather, it seems that it's easier to write about something sarcastic or put a funny spin on something when life has provided a hiccup of sorts.
Nevertheless, I will attempt to come up with update material. Whether you find it interesting or a waste of time is your risk, but I will reimburse you with a beer if called out on a particularly bad post.
What pains me is that there are no other blogs or xangas in which the authors maintain them on a more frequent schedule. Actually, let me rephase that. There are no other blogs or xangas period. All my friends that have blogs either haven't updated them since the beginning of the 21st century or never had one in the first place. What I'm trying to say is, get with the internet overloaded society, people! Jump on it and wet your creative whistle. That sounded strangely dirty, but you know what I mean.

The rush is officially on. People are getting married left and right. It's that time. Wedding explosion. But unlike when I was a kid, I don't mind going to weddings as much. Well, granted that I'll know a good number of people there. Why? Well, nowadays weddings are much more interesting and fun at the same time. Here's what I've noticed about weddings these days:
1) Weddings right now are pretty much the replacement for clubbing. Except more sentimental. And you get a meal.
Weddings, unless you're in them, are pretty much fun activites where you meet up with old friends, eat a meal, work on your social skills (what with being forced to sit with unknowns and all), consume multiple drinks (free if the married couple knows wsup), and dance until you sober up, get sick, or pass out. It's pretty much what people my age do now for fun. I'm not saying that if you're in a wedding you won't have fun, but you'll have more responsibilities...can't get sloshed, turn red, etc.
2) Weddings are a lot more fun when your family isn't there aka Weddings are a lot more fun now that we can drink.
Going to a wedding where I don't have to worry about being drunk and turning around to see my mom's unapproving glare is always a good one. You don't often see drunk relatives at weddings. What you do see is drunk friends. Weddings without alcohol are like going to the prom. Weddings with alcohol are like going to the awesome. Yup.
3) Open bars are a curse and a joy.
Let's get one thing clear up front: open bars are ALWAYS a joy. However, if we mix an open bar with an asian wedding, well...now we're inviting trouble. Make no mistake..asians love free. Even if you have nothing but free 40s at your wedding, you'll see all your old relatives playing Edward Fortyhands by the end of the night. Asians and open bar is already a not so good idea..but if you then introduce a time limit. Oh no. Now all your friends who are all too used to similar rules placed upon them at clubs will get into it. "There's only an hour left yo! Better start double fisting!!". All of often this leads to people being drunk off their ass before the bride and groom have even been introduced. (Hello, Mr. Jason Daco).
4) Tuxedos ain't my thing.
This is entirely personal, and I'm not trying to make any comments about others' weddings and their choices of wardrobe. I'm talking about tuxedos on me. I'd much rather wear a slick suit, white shirt, black tie. And chuck taylors. I figure if you're gonna clean up, might as well make it look original and snazzy. I'm not saying that tuxes are lame, but when I put one on, i feel like I'm gonna serve you dinner or pick up your car. I saw pics from a wedding in San Diego where the groom wore a three piece suit and the groomsmen wore a regular suit. All the suits were dark gray pinstripe, and they all wore chucks. They brought the sickness like the swine flu.

5) Giving a speech at a wedding is hard.
With so much pressure on you, with family and friends looking upon you, with the videographer recording every missed joke or "uh" and "um" etched in permanence, it's extremely difficult to write a speech for a wedding. My personal thought on a speech in any context is that with so many people doing the same kind of speech in a similar context every single day of every single year, you have to try your best to come up with something that is unique and non-cookie cutter. Easier said than done though.
6) Weddings are expensive. And stressful.
Now I understand why people have smaller weddings and/or why people elope.
7) Weddings are the happiest day of your life. Or at least inside.
When I was a kid, I never understood why people would cry at weddings. Probably because I was just bored. But now I can understand why people do. Having been in a couple weddings, I've had a front row to the radiant glow of everyone around me. The bride, the groom (especially when he sees the bride for the first time), the bridesmaids, the couples' parents...all of them are beaming. Unless they're the typical asian relatives. It's awesome seeing old school asian relatives at a wedding. "Stoic" is a vast understatement. The funniest thing I've seen is an old asian relative clap and say "yay" while having an expression that's usually reserved for SAT testing sessions and paying your mortgage.

I'm a diehard Warriors fan, but my god. Enough is enough. The entire upper management, the coach, and some of the players need to be jettisoned from the team. Until then, it's going to be like Al Davis and the Raiders -- doomed for failure every year. It's a good thing that they did that epic series against Dallas a few years ago, or I'd probably never see them make it to the playoffs in my lifetime.
Whether you root for the A's, the Giants, the Sharks, the Raiders, the Warriors, or the Niners, you're team is gonna suck. It's rough. I myself am I a fan of the Warriors, the Niners, and the Sharks. I actually have faith for the Niners this year, now that Crabtree has decided he actually wants to play some football, and Alex Smith looks like he's been reborn. But the offensive line and the defensive line need a lot of work.
But hey, at least we're not the Raiders. The Raiders are the biggest joke of the NFL. I have never seen such a horrible team. Watching them play last week against the Texans was laugh out loud hilarious. Who fumbles on the FIRST play of the game!? The fattest quarterback in the NFL, that's who. Excellent choice Al Davis. I feel bad for the Raiders fans, who, by the way, have made it clear that they are not happy. Anyone see the game last week? Hellooooo empty stands!
Being a fan for the Cal Bears is also rough. Even though they start the year off well, they always find a way to choke or mess up during the year. It's never a sure fire thing that they'll win any of the games, regardless of how good or bad their opponents are. It sucks.
And so, even though I love my teams, the reality is the Sharks will never win the Cup, The Niners will possibly make it to post season, Cal will never make it to the Rose Bowl or win the NCAA basketball tourney, and the Warriors will never win a ring. Until way after I'm dead anyways. I love my teams to death, but that's the reality of the situation.
